Hello, my name is Zebulon James Allen and I am an Ohio based artist, graphic designer and occasional filmmaker. I am currently a junior earning my BA in graphic design at Shawnee State University, where I am also the vice president/co-founder of the art club.
For my graphic design and vector work, I like to use Adobe Illustrator, though I also know Figma, Indesign, Photoshop, Procreate and even Microsoft Office.
The vast majority of the time I paint with acrylics and draw with pen and ink. I like to create art that is whimsical and fun, but doesn't stray too far from realism. As I like to depict animals more than people, they tend to be the subject of a lot of my paintings and drawings (particularly birds).
In addition to art, I have always been interested in filmmaking. When I was 8, my parents gifted me a 360p video camera and I loved that thing. I already loved the world and now that I got to capture moments, exploring it became even more of a priority than it already was. I currently mostly work in hand-drawn animation and edit in Final Cut Pro X.
My other interests include photography, running, hiking and swimming. I try to spend as much time outside as possible. Oftentimes, going for walks or runs helps me think of ideas or helps me reach a conclusion in my work that I have struggled to find.
If my work has to have a deeper meaning, I would want it to make you feel the way you felt whilst looking at illustrations in your favorite childhood books, but in the context of modern adult life. I hope that makes sense.
