Season's Greetings From Portsmouth

In November 2024 I had the opportunity to create a mural in front on the former location of The Landing coffee shop in Portsmouth Ohio. I chose to do a cardinal on a holly branch and the text was designed to evoke the feeling of a vintage postcard. Because it is already in a frame I wanted to not entirely do a frame-within a frame so the bird’s tail feathers come “out” of the postcard. This work was originally part of a rotating mural project where every three months it would be painted over by another artist. That is why it is in a frame designed by Nick and Heather Sherman. The rotating mural project was coordinated by Trillium Project. When The Landing switched locations the rotating mural project ended. Fortunately for me, the mural is still there! It is in close proximity to where an ice-skating rink is set up every year so I feel its in a fitting permanent location.
